Be the 71-year-old who earned player of the day in our local pedal tournament yesterday.
I don’t know anything about pedal. I heard that it was the sport that took up rapidly among our community, especially among 30 to 45-year-olds. These are generally the parents or families with kids and if the kids are anything as active as mine, then every weekend is for them. To take them from one school or sporting event to the other.
Yesterday, there were no games for the kids and my husband volunteered, no I nudged him a bit, to take the boys to their orthodontic appointments. When they asked if I would like to be one of the hosts for the padel day organised by the office since I know most of our customers, I said yes.
Everyone who came was grouped into the following categories, socialising only, those who have never played pedal but want to play, the intermediate players who want to compete and then the advanced players who really want to play and win. I added my name to the list of beginners who wanted to play.
There was a short demonstration for us and off we went. I can recall going for tennis lessons when I was about 10, but that didn’t get very far. It helped when holding the racket and actually hitting the ball, not just thin air. It was a lot of fun. It was a…
