You Are Right Where You Need To Be
Trust the process
Yes, that’s right. And everything you ever needed is within your grasp.
I know it sounds cliched. Things just don’t seem that way right now. I felt like that for a long time. When we see other people’s Instagram posts it looks like they are having the time of their lives with the perfect partner, the perfect job, perfect everything. What you are not seeing is how they have either worked very hard to make the relationship seem effortless, -spoiler alert- it takes more and some for a relationship to really develop from an instant, love-at-first-sight affair into a deep and meaningful connection with another person. It takes years to build that. And if you don’t think so, just stay in it long enough and you’ll see the pressure building up.
The same with a meaningful career. You don’t just rise to the top overnight. In fact, if you do, watch out for the fall. You don’t want to be that person. Hone your skill every day. Put in the hours. It will eventually show. We live in a time where there are not many places to hide anymore. Productivity and tasks can be tracked right to the minute. Results show. You don’t need to impress anyone and tell them how hard you work.
Some jobs are designed to bring out the most creative side in you. There is no need to be sucked into a position that you don’t like, to slug away at your desk day after day. There are opportunities everywhere. Just be careful that you don’t jump from one position to another and find out that it’s not the job that’s the problem. That the common denominator is you. Ask yourself, have you put in the time? Have you put in every effort to understand what is required of you and have you utilised all the tools available?
We spend so much time at work. Now with work from home, there is even more incentive to just knuckle down, but if you never liked what you were doing in the first place, it’s time for a change. We are not meant to be idle and wander around listlessly throughout the day. What an existence that would be? We all want to retire early. To do what?
Watch the paint on the patio dry? Instead of wishing away the time until retirement, be where you are. Take it all in, every day, and count your blessings. Some people did not make it to today?
From the time that you woke up this morning, have you?
- Had a warm shower
- Opened the tap to get running water
- Could get out of bed without aches and pains
- Could have the meal of your choice, any time of the day
- You have a strong family bond and a close friendship circle
- You are gainfully employed and make more than you spend every month
- You are working on something creative each day that inspires you
Life is short. Appreciate what you have. Work through your troubles silently and with determination, you will become a better person. Our days are numbered. We don’t know when our number will come up. We think we have time. Time is our most precious resource. Spend it wisely. Live it, breath it.
Blessings,
August 2021
